A single nucleotide substitution at 5'-UTR of GSN1 represses its translation and leads to an increase of grain length in rice
摘要Rice grain size is an important trait that affects rice yield and quality,and thus the identification of genes related to grain size is of great significance for improving rice yield and quality.Many genes related to grain size,such as DEP1 (Huang et al.,2009),GW5 (Liu et al.,2017),and GW7/GL7 (Wang et al.,2015a,b),have been documented.In addition,several regulatory networks influencing grain size have been identified in rice.For example,DEP1 encodes a G-protein γ subunit and regulates grain size via the G-protein signaling pathway (Sun et al.,2014),and GW5 interacts with GSK2 and acts as a positive regulator of grain size by participating in the brassinosteroid (BR) signal transduction pathway (Liu et al.,2017).However,grain size is a complex agronomic trait,and the molecular mechanisms underlying its regulation still need to be explored.
