摘要篇首: Primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC) is a major cause of death in patients with chronic liver disease. One of the difficulties in the management of PHC is its extensive character: intrahepatic metastasis, venous invasion and distant metastasis. In the process of metastasis, tumor cells are scattered from the original site, spread hematogenously and arrested at small vessel. Thus, detection of tumor cells in the circulation might predict metastasis of tumor.1 However, the number of cells in circulation could be much too small to be detected morphologically.
