摘要篇首: Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, is a critical cellular process for cancer growth and metastasis.Ribozyme targeting studies on overexpression and reduced expression of fibroblast growth factors binding protein (FGF-BP) have indicated that this protein plays a direct role in angiogenesis during tumor development. 1 To explore the effect of FGF-BP on neovascularization of squamous cell carcinoma, we investigated FGF-BP mRNA expression using in situ hybridization on squamous cell carcinoma. To further define the potential role of FGF-BP in individual stages of metastasis, we studied the association of FGF-BP with vascularity.
