摘要Patients with colorectal cancer presenting with acute malignant colonic obstruction are approximately 10％-15％.1 These patients are always in a poor general condition.Emergency surgery for acute obstructive colorectal cancer is associated with high complication rate and mortality and resulting long hospital stay and hospital cost.Self-expanding metal stent (SEMS) placement is a relatively simple and safe altemative to standard surgical management,especially for the advanced patients and has been used as a palliative alternation or bridge to surgery of malignant bowel obstruction.The aim of this current study was to analyze obstructive symptom improvement,complication rate,hospital stay,hospital cost and overall survival of SEMS placement performed at our department during a 6-year period.
