摘要Nephrolithiasis is a common source of morbidity with a lifetime prevalence of 5 %-10%.Despite technical advances in the treatment of nephrolithiasis, the prevalence of stone disease appears to be increasing.Raised serum and/or urinary uric acid are a well-established risk factor for calculogenesis.Hyperuricemia is a level of uric acid in the blood that is abnormally high.Urinary stones are often found in patients with hyperuricemia. This excess uric acid may lead to the formation of uric acid-related nephrolithiasis.Uric acid-related nephrolithiasis may involve calcium stones, uric acid stones,or a combination of both.In some cases, uric acid crystals act as nucleus and calcium oxalate crystals get deposited around the uric acid nucleus due to epitaxy and lead to uric acid-induced calcium oxalate stones.
