摘要INTRODUCTIONCardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide and contributes considerably to morbidity[1-3] The underlying cause is atherosclerosis.[4] The development of new preventive therapies is one of the steps to control the CVD epidemic.It is increasingly demanded that promising therapies be evaluated in trials using cardiovascular (CV) morbidity and mortality (M and M) as a primary outcome.[5]
