The plasma uric acid and tumor volume strongly predicts survival in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients treated with intensity modulated radiotherapy
摘要Background:This study aimed to test the prognostic implication of plasma uric acid and tumor volume in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) undergoing intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).METHODS:Plasma uric acid level was measured thereafter whole treatment in 130 histologically proven NPC patients treated with intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).Tumor volume (TV) was calculated from treatment planning CT scans.Results:Patients with a small tumor volume (TV) (<median) had significantly better survival than those with a big TV (>median).Patients with a high post-treatment plasma uric acid level (>median) had better survival compared with those with a low post-treatment plasma unc acid level(<median).
