Comparative study on chemical composition, antinociceptive effect and acute toxicity of the essential oils from three Asarum species
摘要The present study aimed to compare the chemical composition, antinociceptive effect and acute toxicity of the essential oils (EOs) of Asarum heterotropoides Fr.Schmidt var.mandshuricum (Maxim.) Kitag.(AHM), A.sieboldii Miq.var.seoulense Nakai (ASS) and A.himalaicum Hook.f.et Thoms.ex Klotzsch.(AH).The chemical composition of EOs of AHM, ASS and AH was determined by GC-MS method, and their antinociceptive effect was comparatively assayed using acetic acid-induced writhing, hot plate and formalin tests, together with their acute oral toxicity. These findings suggest that EOs of AHM and AH possess evident antinociceptive activity and favorable safety, however, their chemical composition is quite different. Therefore, there is a doubt whether AH could be clinically used as a substituent for AHM and ASS.
