摘要To the Editor:Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a clinicopathologi-cal syndrome characterized by excessive intracellular lipid accu-mulation in hepatocytes, not attributed to alcohol, viral infections,or other well-defined causes of hepatic injury. The spectrum of NAFLD encompasses nonalcoholic hepatic steatosis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH),and associated conditions like hepatic fi-brosis,cirrhosis,and hepatocellular carcinoma.NAFLD is associ-ated with various factors, including obesity, type 2 diabetes mel-litus,dyslipidemia,and hypertension.Several studies have also highlighted pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD)as a potential cause of NAFLD[1-3].The type of fatty liver disease induced by PD is etio-logically linked to impaired exocrine pancreatic function[3].Unlike common NAFLD,PD-related NAFLD is characterized by non-obesity,absence of metabolic syndrome, and severe nutritional deficien-cies.Although there is a pathological divergence between typi-cal NAFLD and PD-induced NAFLD,both conditions typically ex-hibit mild disease progression with relatively good mid-term prog-noses[4].Herein,we report a rare case with the development of NAFLD after PD who progressed to cirrhosis within 5 years.
