abstractsButyrophilin-like 2(BTNL2) is a newly discovered member of the B7 family-like molecule. BTNL2 mRNA is highly expressed in lymphoid tissues as well as in non-lymphoid tissues. The receptor of BTNL2 is in-ducibly expressed on activated T and B lymphocytes. BTNL2 inhibits T cell proliferation and cytokine produc-tion. The mutation of BTNL2 has been recently reported to associate with the inflammatory autoimmune disea-ses: sarcoidosis and sporadic inclusion body myositis. BTNL2 is thus important in immune diseases and immu-notherapy.
