abstractsBackground Xenon is too expensive to be used widely as a volatile anesthetic.The safety and efficacy of xenon in inhalational anesthesia has been demonstrated in several recent studies,and the perspective of its clinical application is increasingly taken seriously.Objective To summarize the neuroprotective mechanisms of Xenon. Content The neuroprotection of Xenon could be associated with N-methyl-D-aspartic acid receptor,calcium dependent regulatory mechanism,kalium ion channel,etc. Trend Xenon may have a beneficial effect in some specific clinical settings such as cardiopulmonary bypass,neonatal asphyxia,and so on.
