Modic changes: its association with low back pain and efficacy of surgical treatment A systematic review
摘要篇首: Modic changes (MC) are vertebral endplate and adjacent bone marrow changes visible in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Bone marrow signal changes in the vertebral bodies were first reported by De Roos et al [1]. Modic et al[2] classified MRI changes into three categories(Fig 1):type Ⅰ changes show a low signal intensity (SI) in T1-weighted images (T1WI) and a high SI in T2-weighted images (T2WI), type Ⅱ changes show a high SI both in T1WI and in T2WI, and type Ⅲ changes show a low SI both in T1WI and in T2WI.
