摘要脓毒症是全球急危重症领域研究的热点与难点，尽管相关指南一再更新，但病死率居高不下。这促使西医研究思路由片面追求杀灭致病微生物转变为调节机体的免疫应答，由聚焦局部病理变化到关注全身器官的内在联系，并提出了肝肾综合征、心肾综合征、肺-肠轴等理论，这与中医整体观念一致。两种医学研究的领域以及追求的目标一致，治疗的对象一致，中西医结合治疗脓毒症具有重要的应用价值和广阔的发展空间。在脓毒症治疗过程中要充分利用现代技术，同时发挥中医药的优势，降低病死率，为保障人类健康贡献力量。
