摘要Amyand's hernia refers to the presence of appendix within an inguinal hernia sac.In 1736,Claudius Amyand,a surgeon to King George Ⅱ,first reported this special type of inguinal hernia during a transherniotomy appendectomy of an 11-year-old boy with a right inguinal hernia. The finding of a normal appendix within an inguinal hernia sac is not uncommon. Its incidence is about 1%,whereas the presence of appendicitis within an inguinal hernia has an incidence of only 0.1%.1 Moreover, given the normal anatomical position of the appendix, most cases occur on the right side.
