abstractsThe worldwide spread of carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacteria has become a major threat to public health.Being different from other resistance mechanism,most of the carbapenemase-encoding genes are located on mobile genetic elements.It speeds up the emerging of carbapenem-resistant strains and impose severe challenges to clinical treatment and infection control.The Carba NP test is a rapid,reliable and economical method for detection of carbapenemases.In particular,the method has superior specificity to Ambler classes A and B carbapenemases.Application of this rapid carbapenemase-detection assay will benefit clinical practice,antibiotic stewardship and prevention for the development of nosocomial resistant bacteria.
